Corinne Irizarry is Legit! HHS Alum making strides in Hollywood!!

So, as some of us knew Corinne back in HS as one of the craziest, funniest, and most destined for the stage or TV....

Our HS days could have spoken differently.

Although everyone knew her in HS as the things described above, many would also tell you that she was never given the credit or the opportunities she was due in order to shine in those days...

She should have won any of the honors of recognition: class clown, most dramatic, or most likely to succeed....

She should have been given bigger and better parts in our Musicals and Plays..
Her talent should have landed her several leads throughout our HS experience...

But, no matter how hard she tried, or how much better she improved year over year...
She was always looked over and even told on one occasion that she couldn't play a part because she's Puerto Rican...
(Sorry.. "She didn't have the right look")

Truth finally be told, she was overlooked because it was far more important for the faculty that were in charge at that time...
to take the opportunity to cast their own children, their children's friends  and/or other faculty's children
(who were not quite as talented) rather than give someone more deserving an opportunity to equally shine...

As much as people would like to think that every child has an equal opportunity to excel or shine in an area where there is clear talent or excellence...

The fact remains that favoritism and  nepotism during our HS days prevented talented people like Corinne to have a chance to shine during a critical time of growth...

But, it is pleasing to know and see someone come from Hightstown High and defy what everyone told her she couldn't do...

And it personally pleases some of us that have always rooted and cheered for Corinne to surpass all of those that were
"supposed to make it"
because of their personal connections...
And that time has come and we couldn't be more proud or happy for her!

Just goes to show that sometimes you have to really put in the work rather than ride on someone else's coat tails!

Again,
Congrats to Corinne Irizarry for actually following through and living her dream and not allowing the past to keep her from it!

we are very proud of you!
