Hightstown Republicans Select Candidates for Mayor and Council

This past month the Hightstown Republican Committee filed petitions nominating candidates for the offices of Mayor (4 year term) and Borough Council (3 year terms). For the office of Mayor, Doug Mair was nominated by the committee and commented, “Enough is enough,” referring to what he labeled, “the borough government’s lack of strong leadership and poor track record lately.”

For the office of Borough Council, Lee Stults and Connor Montferrat were nominated.  Long time Planning Board member and Downtown Hightstown, Inc. Board member, Mr. Stults said, “We need to move forward in improving the town’s image and work towards becoming a destination for people, not just a town that folks pass through. I’m ready for the challenge.”

Mr. Montferrat, former State Chairman of the New Jersey College Republicans said, “I have seen my father dedicate his time to the towns well-being, and I was inspired to do the same.” He added, “This election will decide the direction of the town for years to come. We need a Mayor and Council that will cooperate and work together for the good of Hightstown. I think our team will help steer us there.”

By winning the vote of the Hightstown Republican organization, the three candidates will now advance to the June 3rd Primary Election with the Republican Party’s official endorsement. One additional candidate will be added later to the ticket due to the recently announced vacancy on Borough Council.

On June 3rd, all registered Republicans will be eligible to vote on candidates for U.S. Senate, Congress, County Freeholder, as well as local Mayor and Council. Polls are open from 6AM-8PM. The winners will go on to face the Democratic candidates in the November General Election.
