Update: Abandoned Etra Road House Catches Fire

The cause of an early morning blaze that damaged an abandoned house on Etra Road remained under investigation Thursday afternoon, a fire official said.

Firefighters arrived on the scene, near Milford Road, around 1:15 a.m. to find flames coming through a second story window, said Fire Chief Barry Rashkin, of . The fire was under control around 2:15 a.m.

There were no injuries and the fire was contained to the one side of the house, Rashkin said.

“Nobody got hurt and we were all able to go home safely,” Rashkin said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Rashkin said. The house has been abandoned for several years.

In addition to East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #1 and #2, several fire companies from surrounding towns responded, including , , Robinsville Fire Department, Plainsboro Fire Company, Monroe Township Fire Department and Groveville Fire Company, Rashkin said. East Windsor Rescue Squads #1 and #2 provided lighting and rehab at the scene.
