Car Flips on Roof in Route 33 Crash

The three car crash sent three people to the hospital.

A three-car crash where one car flipped on its roof on Route 33 Wednesday sent three people to the hospital, all with non-life threatening injuries, police said. 

Millstone resident Raquel Dossantos, 22, rear-ended a Toyota Corolla driven by Akhilesh Khare, 35, of Monroe, as it was slowing in traffic near Twin Rivers Drive North around 10:15 a.m., police said. Dossantos’ BMW then veered off the roadway to the right then steered back to the roadway, hit another car and flipped over, coming to a rest on the roof.

The second car that was struck was a BMW driven by 69-year-old Lee Mergentime, of Monroe, police said.

Dossantos had head and facial injuries, and was transported to CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Khare and Mergentime were transported to University Medical Center at Princeton for neck pain, police said. 

No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation by the East Windsor Township Police Department.
