The following information was supplied by the police department of East Windsor Township.

On Monday, September 24, 2012 at approximately 3:52 p.m., East Windsor Police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash on Route 33 between Lake Drive and Twin Rivers Drive involving a juvenile pedestrian.

According to police, preliminary investigation revealed the operator of the vehicle was traveling east on Route 33 when a 13-year-old juvenile attempted to cross the highway from the south side of the roadway.

Police said the juvenile from East Windsor ran into the path of a 2012 gray Mazda driven by Leigh Tsujino, 48, of Freehold, NJ, and collided with the vehicle.

East Windsor Volunteer Rescue District II and Capital Health System Paramedics responded to the scene, and the juvenile was reportedly transported via ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick for lower leg and other injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, police said.

Police said eastbound Route 33 traffic was closed for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes while the scene was cleared.

The matter remains under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team. No charges have been filed.
