East Windsor Man Charged with Aggravated Assault of Police Officer

William Castro-Plaza allegedly fled from an East Windsor police officer and then assaulted him while trying to get away.

A 30-year-old East Windsor man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a police officer on Thursday, April 11.

Ptl. Robert Davison was approaching a suspicious vehicle parked on the corner of Westfield Road and Winchester Drive when he saw the passenger, identified as William Castro-Plaza, swiftly exit the car flee on foot. While running, Castro-Plaza threw a bag into a bush which police later learned contained beer bottles.

Davison pursued Castro-Plaza and caught him at the front door of his home on Winchester Drive, but Castro-Plaza was able to force his way into his home while the officer held him. Castro-Plaza then repeatedly slammed the front door onto Davison’s arm and he was forced to release his grip, according to police. Castro-Plaza was located inside of the home by officers and placed under arrest after another struggle.

Castro-Plaza had two outstanding arrest warrants, according to police. He additionally charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstructing justice, hindering apprehension, and disorderly conduct. He was transported to Mercer County Jail in default of $15,000 bail.
