East Windsor Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Route 130

Jeffrey Schoener of East Windsor was struck by a car and killed while crossing Route 130 North on Wednesday afternoon.

An East Windsor man was struck and killed by a car Wednesday afternoon as he was crossing Route 130 at the intersection of Hickory Corner Road, according to police. 

Police responded to the area shortly before 5 p.m. to find Jeffrey Schoener, 56, on the roadway; authorities pronounced him dead at  the scene. An investigation revealed that Schoener was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Route 130 when he was hit by a 2001 Toyota driven by Venkatesh Iyengar, 49, of East Windsor. Iyengar was not injured as a result of the crash. 

The Traffic Safety Unity of the East Windsor Township Police Department and the Serious Collision Response Team of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident, police said.

The East Windsor Police Department, Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police-Incident Management, East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company District I, East Windsor Volunteer EMS District II, and Capital Health EMS Paramedics all responded to the scene. 

Police closed Route 130 North for three hours yesterday evening while the scene of the accident was processed and cleared.
