East Windsor Police Blotter: Couple Wakes Up to Find Burglar in Their Bedroom

The following arrest information was supplied by the police department of East Windsor Township. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary

Police responded to the Windsor Regency Apartment complex after a couple called 911 at 12:46 a.m. on Dec. 27 to report that someone had burglarized their apartment while they were sleeping.

The female resident told police she woke up to observe a stranger in her bedroom. She roused her boyfriend, who said he awoke just as the burglar – described only as a “male with a red jacket” – fled the bedroom and exited the apartment by way of a rear sliding door.

Driving While Intoxicated / Traffic Accident

Scott Glazer, 24, of Holly Drive, East Windsor, was arrested by Officer Ryan Ballard about 5:55 p.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving and following too closely after the vehicle Glazer was operating struck a police car from behind in the area of One Mile Road and Dutch Neck Road.

Upon being questioned by police, Glazer explained that he had taken prescription narcotics belonging to another person. After Glazer was given field sobriety tests, he was arrested for DWI and later released pending court action.  There were no injuries reported in the collision.

Driving While Intoxicated / Traffic Accident

Peter Pernice, 56, of Chesterfield, was arrested by Officer Troy McWhorter about 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 26 and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and careless driving after the vehicle Pernice was driving was involved in a traffic accident in the area of Route 130 and Old Cranbury Road.

Responding police officers arrived to find that Pernice’s vehicle had struck a traffic signal pole, causing it to fall to the ground, and, several hundred feet prior to that, had struck another vehicle from behind. Pernice was observed to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot, watery eyes. After he was given field sobriety tests, he arrested for DWI. He was later released pending court action. There were no injuries reported in the accident.

Resisting Arrest

Marco Cadena, 21, of Jefferson Drive, East Windsor, was arrested about 12:10 a.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing justice after police officers responded to a complaint about a fight “involving multiple participants” at the American Legion post on Route 130.

When officers arrived, witnesses pointed them toward Cadena, who “began fleeing on foot.” Cadena continued to run away from officers despite being ordered to halt. He was eventually caught and arrested by Officer David Oleksy. Cadena was later released pending court action.

Drug Offense

A 16-year-old Hightstown boy was arrested about 4:50 p.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams after Officer Joseph Carabelli observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Twin Rivers Mall parking lot.

The vehicle was approached and the officer detected an odor of marijuana.  Investigation revealed that one of the occupants was in possession of a partially smoked marijuana cigarette. The juvenile suspect was arrested and later released to his parents pending court action.
