East Windsor Police Blotter: Drunken Driving, Theft, and Domestic Violence

The following arrest information was supplied by the police department of East Windsor Township. It does not indicate a conviction.

Driving While Intoxicated

Police observed a 2008 Honda traveling east on Route 571 and making a left turn onto Route 130 through a red light at 1:36 a.m. on Oct 10. According to police, the vehicle continued operating erratically and was stopped on Rt. 130 northbound by Officer Paul Wille.

The driver, Nancy Coffee, 50, of Washington Court, had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and was given field sobriety tests, police said.

She was arrested for driving while intoxicated, failure to observe signal, failure to maintain lane, careless driving, and reckless driving.

Coffee was later released pending court action.

Theft at Windsor Regency Apartments

On Oct. 9 at 10:05 p.m., police responded to a complaint of theft at Windsor Regency apartments. Police said the victim reported he had encountered an individual unknown to him at the Krauszer’s store in Hightstown who asked the victim to drive him to Windsor Regency apartments. Upon dropping the male off at the apartments, the complainant said he discovered his iPad 2, worth $500, had been stolen from the vehicle. 

 

Local Woman Victim of Domestic Violence

Officers responded to a Windsor Regency address at 2:21 p.m. on Oct. 10 for a report of an intoxicated male threatening a female with a knife. Police said the victim advised Officer Glen Vega an argument ensued after Marcos Sanchez-Merino, 21, came to her apartment. Sanchez-Merino, of Windsor Regency apartments, reportedly grabbed the victim around the neck and strangled her, causing visible redness on her neck, police said.

According to police, Sanchez-Merino then grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to kill the victim.

Police located Sanchez-Merino at a nearby apartment and arrested him. He was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and weapons offenses

Bail was set at $250,000, and Sanchez-Merino was later transferred to the Mercer County Corrections Center in lieu of bail. The Victim did not require medical assistance. 

 

East Windsor Youth Faces Drug Charges

Police were conducting a foot patrol in the wooded area of Huntington Drive at 2:28 p.m. on Oct. 13 when Officer Robert Davison observed several individuals who appeared to be smoking marijuana. Davison reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana in the area and investigation revealed that one of the individuals, a 16-year-old male, was in possession of a bag of marijuana. 

The juvenile was transported home and turned over to a parent pending court action. He faces charges for possession of marijuana under 50 grams.

 

Fraud at a CVS Pharmacy

Police responded to the CVS Pharmacy at 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 15 after Rashon Yarbrough, 28, reportedly presented a fraudulent prescription for narcotics to the pharmacist. Officer Philip Melhorn located Yarbrough, of Keyport, NJ, and the prescription was confirmed to be fraudulent.  Yarbrough was arrested for attempting to obtain narcotics by fraud and forgery and later released pending court action.

 

Drug Charges for East Windsor Man

At 12:06 a.m. on Oct. 17, Officer Joseph Carabelli officer observed a silver Ford turning from Winchester Drive onto Westfield Avenue without stopping at the stop sign. 

When he stopped the vehicle, he observed the odor of marijuana within the vehicle. Investigation revealed that one of the passengers, Jeffrey Rios, 19, was in possession of a glass marijuana pipe, a marijuana cigarette, and a plastic bag of marijuana. 

Rios, of Brooktree Road, was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released pending court action.

 

Fairfield Road Car Burgled

A Fairfield Road resident reported to police her unlocked vehicle was entered while parked on her street between 9 p.m. on Sept. 19 and 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 24. Police said a bag containing hair styling tools worth a total of $2,079 was reported stolen.
