East Windsor Promotes Sapp to Sergeant

The promotion comes after numerous accolades.

Michael Sapp reached the rank of sergeant in the last week and was sworn into his new post by Mayor Janice Mironov.

“Anyone who has the privilege to earn a promotion has achieved something very special,” the mayor said of the police department at the Township Committee’s May 17 meeting.

In his time on the force, Sapp has earned six medals, two of them for saving lives, Mayor Mironov said. Sapp holds an Associate of Science from Burlington County College and a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Administrative Science from Farleigh Dickinson University.

It was standing room only as Sapp was promoted, with other officers and community members filling out the other seats and much of the hallway. Sapp's wife, Marci, held the Bible as he took the oath.

Police Chief William Spain also attended and said he was happy to see Sapp rise in the ranks.
