East Windsor Township Honors Members of Rescue Squads

Mayor Janice S. Mironov bestowed proclamations to two exemplary township emergency members at the township council meeting last Thursday.

The Township Council honored two members of the township’s volunteer rescue squad on Thursday night for their continued, round-the-clock exemplary service.

Mayor Janice S. Mironov bestowed two proclamations, on behalf of the Township Council and the entire municipality, to Kiera Behen, 27, of and Donna Feldhaus, 29, of at the June 9 meeting.

“This is always such a wonderful occasion to honor members who are willing to dedicate their time and put in the training to serve the community in such an excellent fashion,” said Mayor Mironov as she presented Behen with a framed proclamation in front of the members of both squads.

Behen has served on the municipalities’ first squad since 2004, and has held several positions within the squad, including safety officer, lieutenant and captain.

The mayor said a memorable moment in her career was when she put her vehicle rescue skills to work, and assisted three passengers who were trapped in a car after a serious accident.

Currently, she serves as cadet advisor on the squad, and she is continuing her education be achieving her paramedic license.

“She has been a tremendously invaluable member of the squad, and is a very enthusiastic hard worker,” said Mironov.

Feldhaus, the mayor noted, has quickly risen through the emergency training and has been with the township’s second district since July 2009.

The mayor said that Feldhaus is known as someone who is always looking for ways to help out, and has played an active role and an important part in training other members.

In addition to being an active member of the squad and crew chief, Feldhaus has also served as a cadet advisor, encouraging the growth and aptitude of young recruits.

As an active crew chief, Feldhaus regularly responds to a large number of calls, and was most recently elected to be the supervisor of equipment.
