Electrical Fire Leaves East Windsor House Uninhabitable

An electrical fire in an upstairs laundry room forced a family of four out of their house on Shelley Circle in East Windsor, according to a fire official.

Firefighters were called to the house around 8:30 p.m. Friday and were able to contain the fire to the one house and put it out in about 40 minutes, said East Windsor Fire Company #2 Chief Barry Rashkin. There were no injuries.

The house suffered water damage and there was smoke damage to an upstairs bedroom, Rashkin said. The family is staying with friends.

“There was a good response from all mutual aid companies,” Rashkin said.

Hightstown Engine Company, East Windsor Fire Company #1, Plainsboro Fire Company, Monroe Township Fire Department #2 and Groveville Fire Department provided mutual aid, and East Windsor Township Rescue Squads #1 and #2 provided firefighters with rehab and lighting.

Cranbury Volunteer Fire Company, West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company and Millstone Township Fire Company helped cover the Hightstown and East Windsor area during the fire, Rashkin said. While they were providing mutual aid, the companies responded to an alarm on Abbington Drive, along with additional East Windsor Fire Company #2 truck.
