UPDATE: Jamesburg Woman Killed in Turnpike Crash

Nicole Gandy, 25, of Jamesburg, was killed when the Ford Explorer she was driving flipped over and struck the guardrail on the turnpike.

4:45 p.m. -

The New Jersey State Police have identified the woman killed in a single vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike this morning as a 25-year-old Jamesburg resident.

Nicole Gandy, 25, of Sand Hill Court, was killed when the Ford Explorer she was driving flipped over and struck the guardrail on the northbound inner lane of the roadway near mile marker 74.5 in South Brunswick at 7:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Julian Castellanos.

The vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest in the right lane of the roadway facing southbound, according to the NJSP.

Police said Gandy was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The Monroe First Aid Squad and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick responded to the scene. Gandy was pronounced dead at 7:59 a.m. by a doctor from RWJ.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and no passengers were in Gandy's vehicle, according to police.

A 24-year-old female was killed Thursday morning in a serious accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, according to the New Jersey State Police. The accident occurred on the inner roadway of the turnpike northbound near Exit 8A/NJ 32 in South Brunswick.

The NJSP said the accident involved a Ford Explorer that rolled over. As of 1 p.m. the Department of Transportation reported no delays on the Turnpike.

Around 9:10 a.m. all lanes were blocked in the car lane, causing a 20-mile backup in the truck lanes, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

The call for the accident came in at approximately 7:40 a.m. and it occurred near mile marker 74.5.
