Firefighters Respond to Accidental Restaurant Fire

Police and firefighters responded to an accidental fire at the Asian Halal Meat and Kebab House on Route 130 around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, according to officials.

The fire was in the ventilation hood above the stove and extended to the roof of the wooden building, said East Windsor Fire Company #1 Chief Kevin Brink. It was extinguished in about 30 minutes after firefighters arrived, and they remained at the scene checking for hotspots.

Brink said restaurant workers tried to put the fire out, but should have called 9-1-1 sooner.
