Hightstown Blotter: Gas Stolen from Vehicle Through Drilled Hole

A compilation of arrests in Hightstown between May 6 and May 14.

The following report is based on information released by Hightstown Borough police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On May 6, 2013 at 7:45 p.m. officers took custody of Jose Borrero, 26, of Mercer Street, Hightstown, on warrants issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court. The warrant was in the amount of $1,000 and the subject was unable to post bail. He was transported to Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.

On May 8  at 7:42 p.m. at Hightstown Liquors, Stockton Street, officers responded to a shoplifting report regarding a subject stealing an $8 bottle of liquor. Through security surveillance systems, the officers were able to identify the subject and later arrested Randall Wojtowicz, 26, of Lincoln Avenue. Hewas charged with shoplifting and later released on a summons complaint with pending court action.

Between May 8 at 6 p.m. and May 9 at 2 p.m. a theft of gasoline from a vehicle at a business occurred in the 100 block of Monmouth Street. The unknown subject(s) drilled a hole in a gas tank and took approximately $35 worth of fuel. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Hightstown Borough Police Department.

Between May 8 at 10 p.m. and May 9 at 8:42 p.m. unknown subject(s) entered the rear yard of a residence in the 200 block of Mercer Street and removed a bicycle valued at $175. The bicycle was described as a 21 speed GT Windstream bicycle with a white basket.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Hightstown Borough Police Department.

On May 12 at 1:22 a.m. on Mercer Street, officers arrested Steve Smith, 21, of Fort Bragg, NC and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. The subject was stopped for motor vehicle infractions and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage.  The subject was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody. The subject submitted breath samples that resulted in a reading of 0.14 percent BAC. He was later released with pending court action.

On May 12 at 3:39 a.m. in the parking lot of Deerfield Apartments, officers arrested Justin Besantes, 22, of North Brunswick, NJ and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, and reckless driving. While investigating a suspicious incident, officers observed the subject passed out in the vehicle, as a result of being intoxicated. The subject was given sobriety tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody. The subject provided breath samples that resulted in a reading of 0.17 percent BAC. He was later released with pending court action.

On May 12 at 10:38 p.m. on Franklin Street, officers arrested Maria Defensor,  49, of Jersey City, NJ who was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and possession of prescription legend drug. The subject was observed swerving and was stopped. The subject appeared under the influence of an intoxicant, was given field sobriety tests, which she failed, and was taken into custody.  The subject was found in possession of a prescription bottle, in a different name, containing various pills. She was later released with pending court action.

On May 14 at 10:30 a.m. on Franklin Street, officers arrested Vincent Dipierro, 21, of Monroe, NJ and charged him with driving while suspended, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, and reckless driving.  A random license plate inquiry revealed that the driver was suspended resulting in the stop. The subject appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant and was given sobriety tests that he failed. He was taken into custody and was later released with pending court action.
