Hightstown Names Acting Police Director

The position is effective Sept. 1.

Hightstown police Sgt. Frank Gendron has been named Acting Police Director, effective Sept. 1, Council President and Police Commissioner Lawrence Quattrone said.

"I think he has the leadership ability. He comes with a strong recommendation from his peers," Quattrone said. "And I feel very comfortable with him doing it."

Gendron will take on the acting police director role while holding his rank as sergeant, without further compensation, Quattrone said.

"There's no promotion involved, he's going to carry the same rank to do the job," Quattrone said.

As acting police director, Gendron will handle the day-to-day operations and administration of police department, Quattrone said.

The Borough is searching for a permanent police director, however the search committee who will review the applications has not yet been formed, Quattrone said.

Once it is formed, the committee will review the applications and bring one or more names to the council, who will make the final decision, Quattrone said.

Applications for the permanent position will be accepted through Sept. 16.
