Hightstown Police Blotter: Contempt of Court, Shoplifting, and Drunken Driving

The following arrest information was supplied by the police department of Hightstown Borough. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

Contempt of Court

Officers arrested Jose Barrero, 26, for contempt of court on Nov. 7 at 3:28 p.m. on Rogers Avenue. He was previously arrested on Nov. 1 for disorderly conduct and panhandling on Main Street. Police said Barrero, of Mercer Street, was observed in the area of Rogers Avenue and was known to have a warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $1000. Barrero was taken into custody and released on his own recognizance with a new court date.

Shoplifting at Canal’s Liquor Store

Police were dispatched to Canal’s Liquor Store on Mercer Street on a reported shoplifting complaint on Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, police identified the suspect as Dasia Powell, 19, of Fryer Court. She was charged with shoplifting stemming from an incident that had occurred on Nov. 5.  Also arrested was Abdulhakim Namoya, 20, of Enfield Drive, East Windsor. He had accompanied Powell and was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Both subjects were released on summons complaints with pending court action.

 

Drunken Driving Charges for East Windsor Man

On Nov. 9 at 10:03 p.m., police arrested Jeffrey Letourneau, 43 and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, refusal to submit to breath testing, reckless driving, and failure to dim high beams. 

Police stopped Letourneau, of Bristol Way, East Windsor, for a motor vehicle violation when the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. After failing field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody and refused to provide breath samples. Letourneau was issued several summonses with pending court action and was later released to a family member.

 

Burlington Man Faces Drunken Driving Charges

Police arrested Israel Hightower, 39, at 1:34 a.m. on Nov. 12 after he was observed traveling over the double yellow line on Franklin Street.

Upon being stopped, police said they detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.

Hightower, of Burlington, NJ, subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. He reportedly submitted breath samples that resulted in a reading of 0.19% blood alcohol content. Police charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane.  He was released to a family member with pending court action.

 

Contempt of Court

Police arrested Shayna Mapes, 25, for contempt of court on Nov. 13 at 5:36 a.m. at her residence on Taylor Avenue. Officers responded to her residence to serve a warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $1000. Mapes was taken into custody and released upon posting bail with a new court date.

 

Contempt of Court

Police arrested Jarred Frankel, 57, on Nov. 13 at 7:26 a.m. at his residence on Summit Street and charged him with contempt of court. Officers responded to Frankel’s residence to serve a warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $500. He was taken into custody and released upon posting bail with a new court date.
