Hightstown Police Charge Two Men with Marijuana Possession

A Hightstown and Monroe man were arrested by Hightstown police for reportedly being in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Alexander Abeel, 23, of Monroe Township, and Shane Colvell, 23, of Hightstown, were arrested by Hightstown Borough Police around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 after police responded to investigate a report about a suspicious vehicle in the rear parking lot of St. Anthony’s Church on Maxwell Avenue in Hightstown.

Abeel, the driver of the vehicle, threw a baggie out of the car window as he lowered the window to speak to an approaching officer. The baggie, police determined, contained remnants of marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a partially-smoked cigar with marijuana in it.

Police charged Abeel with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, as a result of the investigation.
