Hit-and-Run Car Crash on Turnpike Causes Serious Injuries

Police need help finding the individual who fled the scene of the accident.

The New Jersey State Police are looking for help in a hit and run car accident that took place on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Windsor yesterday, according to a post on their Facebook page. The accident resulted in serious injuries.

According to the post, a blue Chevy Cavalier was struck by a car around mile marker 65 on the Turnpike South. The crash caused the Cavalier to spin and hit the guardrail on the right shoulder, the post stated. The car that struck the Cavalier continued to travel south, ultimately leaving the scene. The accident took place at around 10 a.m.

The male driver was trapped within the Cavalier and he was extracted by first responders, the post said. He reportedly suffered head trauma and the passenger in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries, according to police. They were transported to Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, the post said.

According to NJSP, a witness at the scene informed police that a red or maroon colored vehicle was seen leaving the accident. Anyone with information on the accident may call the New Jersey State Police, Turnpike Cranbury Barracks at 609-860-9000 ext. 4420.
