Home Heating Oil Found in Peddie Lake

The Hightstown Fire Department responded to a call of an unknown substance in Peddie Lake, Thursday.

The Hightstown Fire Department conducted an investigation on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 6:52 p.m., on an unknown substance found in the Peddie Lake.

According to information from the Hightstown Police Department, the Hightstown Fire Department, along with the Hamilton Township Hazardous Materials Response Team, and the state Department of Environmental Protection responded to the incident and determined the substance to be a fuel oil utilized to heat a residence. 

The source of the leak was found to have originated at 132 Franklin St.  The leak was contained, the spill was mitigated, and there was no threat to public safety or health as a result of the incident.
