Homeless Man Charged with Drug Distribution in East Windsor School Zone

According to police, the man ran away as his car was being searched.

A young homeless man was arrested by East Windsor police on Aug. 2 for allegedly being in possession of drugs and running from police. 

Detective Thomas Meyer pulled over a car that was driving erratically on Bolton Road shortly before 6 p.m. and said that he smelled marijuana from inside of the car, according to a police report. Meyer found the passenger, identified as Anthony Perez, 20, to be in possession of marijuana, according to the report.

While Meyer was conducting the investigation, Perez ran from police towards Probasco Road, and he was apprehended by police at the intersection of Probasco and Bolton Roads, according to the report.

According to police, additional marijuana and a digital scale were discovered during a thorough search of the car. 

Perez was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute,  possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school zone, obstructing justice, hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, and possession of alcohol in motor vehicle under 21 years of age. He is currently remanded in Mercer County Corrections in default of $25,000 bail.
