Investigation into Bomb Explosion at Hightstown Police Department Continues

No injuries or damage was reported as a result of the explosive detonation, police said.

No arrests have yet been made nearly two weeks after an explosive device was detonated in the rear parking lot of the Hightstown Police Department near several police vehicles, Hightstown Police Director James LeTellier said. The bomb, which went off at 9:48 p.m. on May 6., did not cause any injuries or damage to nearby police cars.

Both the explosion and the individual who planted the bomb were recorded on the police video surveillance system, LeTellier said. Specially trained bomb dogs from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department searched the area for further explosive devices and the perpetrator, but nothing was found.

Police notified the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and Homeland Security of the incident. The evidence is being processed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to LeTellier.

This is an active investigation and anyone with information on the incident can contact Detective Ben Miller of the Hightstown Police Department.
