Update: Motorcyclist Suffers Leg Injuries in Hightstown Crash

Authorities have released new details of the Sunday morning crash at the intersection of Franklin Street and Maxwell Avenue that left one person injured.

Motorcyclist Victor Viruet, 26, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. was traveling east on Franklin Street, and a car was making a left turn onto Maxwell Avenue, police said in a statement Monday.

Viruet suffered severe leg injuries and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center at Fuld where he was listed in stable condition and scheduled for surgery, the statement said.

Officials said Sunday that Viruet suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, Monica Findley, 50, of Hightstown, and the passenger, Leeanna Findley, 23, of Hightstown, were not injured.

Police responded to the crash around 10:15 a.m., and the collision remains under investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and Hightstown Police Department, officials said at the scene.

Editor's note: Police initially identified Victor Viruet as a 36-year-old, but later said that he was 26.

Victor Viruet is my son and he is 26 years old and he was on his way home to Mount Vernon NY when the accident occurred The contributing factors to my son not sustaining more serious injuries is that he tried to take evasive action and he was wearing the proper gear: under armor chest and back protector, full face helmet and the proper clothing. So all you motorcyclists please please please dress appropriately. Special thanks to the Medical Staff and the surgeons at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, he is receiving excellent care

Glad your son is doing well. Everyone that rides should wear the right gear and learn to ride correctly to know how to handle and avoid crashes.

Thank you for your comments. The statement from police said he is 36 so I am checking with them.
