Police: Be Aware of Suspicious Incidents in Hightstown

The following is a news release issued by the Hightstown Borough Police Department

The Hightstown Borough Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in thwarting crimes, and is providing safety tips for residents.

A rash of vehicle burglaries and suspicious incidents, including a residential and a commercial burglary have occurred in the past week, throughout the Borough.

The Hightstown Borough Police Department is urging residents to be proactive in locking their car doors and their residences, to utilize alarms if your vehicle or home is equipped with such, and to keep valuables out of clear sight.

The police department is also requesting residents to report all suspicious incidents and sounds to the police at the time they occur, such as dogs barking excessively, glass breaking, alarms sounding, and anything out of the norm.

As a result of these incidents, the Hightstown Borough Police Department has increased patrols in the area with a proactive unit patrolling the area.

In an event of an emergency or an incident in progress, citizens should dial 911. For non-emergency matters or any person with information regarding these incidents, the Hightstown Borough Police Department may be contacted at 609-448-1234.

We never see police cars on our street. Supposedly the police drive on every street in town twice a day. I don't think that is a fact although was told it was by a council member. Wouldn't you think they would go past once in the daytime and once through the night? We aren't up at night to know if they go past or not however we are retired and would notice a police car in the daytime. In fact, we look for them and haven't viewed one in this area in over a week or more.

So are you saying that staffing levels matter? The governing bodies would argue with you there.
