Police Blotter: Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Assault, Disorderly Conduct and More

The start of May was reportedly very active for police in both East Windsor and Hightstown.

Police released the following reports from the past week.

May 8

  • Edward Scott Conover, 41, of Windsor Castle Apartments, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drugs with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they stopped the car he was traveling in at 3:04 a.m. on Route 130 after it came to a complete stop at a green light at Hickory Corner Road. Police said Conover, a passenger, was acting suspicious and that they discovered he had cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, a crack pipe and a digital scale. Conover also had outstanding East Windsor and New Brunswick municipal court warrants, police said, and he was sent to the Mercer County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bail with no option to post 10 percent for release.

  • A Livingston Drive resident told police that between 3:30 p.m. May 7 and 8 a.m. May 8 someone stole four children’s bicycles, valued at $160, which had been left unlocked in the residence’s back yard.

  • A Washington Court resident told police he was inside when someone threw a brick through his front storm door at 8 p.m., shattering the glass and causing an estimated $500 in damage.
  • Allan Sirjoo, 31, of Windsor Castle Apartments, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said they responded to Windsor Castle at 3:45 p.m. for a report of an altercation and arrived to find Sirjoo in the parking lot and apparently intoxicated. Police said he was uncooperative and began yelling and creating a disturbance.

  • Martin Veintraub, 63, of Avon Drive, was charged with assault, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they responded to Avon Drive at 11:51 a.m. for a report of an assault and arrived to find Veintraub walking away from the scene through a parking lot. Police said they saw him toss a bag he was carrying into a bush, and upon checking it they found it contained seven bags of marijuana and a smoking pipe.

Police said they also found Veintraub had assaulted the victim in the reported incident by punching him in the face after a verbal dispute. The victim was reportedly uninjured.

May 6

  • Michael Walsh, 18, of Livingston Drive, was charged with harassment, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Police said they responded to a Livingston Drive address at 2:43 p.m. for a report of a dispute and that once they arrived, Walsh became argumentative and aggressive with them, creating a disturbance in the parking lot. Police said he refused to calm down and physically resisted when they placed him under arrest.

May 5

  • Brenda L. Barnes, 23, of Hamilton, and a 17-year-old Trenton girl were charged with hindering apprehension and shoplifting.

Police said they responded to TJ Maxx at 3:59 p.m. for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Police said store personnel told them they had seen the two removing security devices and altering price tags on several pairs of shoes. Police said Barnes also gave them a false name.

May 3

  • Lester Rambo, 33, of Mantua, was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe lane change and uninsured vehicle.

Police said they stopped him at 3:49 a.m. on Route 130 after seeing him speeding and driving in an erratic manner near Hickory Corner Road. Police said Rambo had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests.

May 2

  • A complainant told police someone shot five BB’s at storage building on the Imlaystown Road property of a Pentecostal church between 8 p.m. May 1 and noon May 2, causing $500 in damage.

May 8

  • Vu Nguyen, 41, of Somerset, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, speeding and failure to exhibit an insurance card.

Police said they stopped him in the parking lot on Franklin Street at 12:46 a.m. for driving 47 mph in a 25-mph speed zone. Police said he failed field sobriety tests and registered a 0.10 percent blood-alcohol level once at police headquarters. He was released to a family member.

May 7

  • James J. Zingales, 28, of Staten Island, N.Y., was charged with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lamps. 

Police said they stopped him at 1:06 a.m. on Franklin Street for having a headlight out and, once stopped, smelled raw marijuana. Police said Zingales then turned over a baggie containing suspected marijuana.

May 6

  • Police said someone threw eggs at a residence on the 200 block of Summit Street at 9:37 p.m., damaging the house’s vinyl siding. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police at 609-448-1234.
  • Michael Szarawarski, 56, of Franklin Street, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said they responded to Krauszer’s Convenience Store on Franklin Street at 9:02 p.m. after someone reported “an unruly, intoxicated subject refusing to leave the store.” Police said Szarawarski refused to comply with their requests and “due to his intoxicated state continued to act in a tumultuous manner resulting in his arrest. “

  • At 1:32 a.m., Hightstown police took custody of Nelson Rios, 32, of Waterford, from Winslow Township police on a $500 Hightstown Municipal Court warrant. He was sent to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.

May 5

  • Carl Jensen Jr., 63, of Franklin Park, was charged with contempt of court, driving while suspended, unlicensed driving and failure to exhibit documents. 

Police said they stopped him at 11:32 a.m. on Stockton Street after a random license plate check showed the registered owner’s driver’s license had been suspended. Police said they stopped Jensen and identified him as the owner, and also found he had a $500 Brick Township Municipal Court warrant.

May 4

  • At 11 p.m., police took custody of Anthony Sicoli, 37, of Bellville, from Hamilton Police on a $2,000 Hightstown Municipal Court warrant. He was sent to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.
