Police Blotter: Shoplifting, DWI, Auto Theft

East Windsor Police report two cases of automobile theft in the same residential complex.

 

Feb. 21

  •  Natalia Gaiser, 52, of Forked River, was charged with shoplifting. 

Police said they responded to TJ Maxx on Princeton-Hightstown Road at 4:07 p.m. Store personnel said that Gaiser had been seen concealing items in her purse. She was arrested and is pending court action. The merchandise, worth $53.99, was returned to the store.

  • Police are investigating a report that a 1994 Honda Civic, worth $5,000, was stolen from the Princeton Arms South 2 parking lot sometime between 10 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 8 a.m. on Feb. 23. The owner told police the car was locked.
  • Police are investigating a report that a 1997 Acura, worth $3,000, was stolen from the Princeton Arms South 1 parking lot sometime between the hours of 7 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 3 p.m. on Feb. 23. The owner told police that the car was locked. 

 

Feb. 24

  • Nancy Malen, 56, of Princeton, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and reckless driving. 

Police said that they received a call around 8:15 p.m. that suspected that Malen had been intoxicated. After finding her in her car in the Windsor Heights Shopping Center parking lot, police said she had slurred speech. She was arrested after field sobriety tests.

Feb. 25

  • Joyce Munga, 37, of Hightstown, was charged with obstructing justice and hindering apprehension. 

Police said they stopped a silver Honda on Town Center Road at 8 p.m. Munga could not produce any documentation, and complained of a medical emergency. Munga was then transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton Hospital. While in the hospital, police said Munga's name came up as having a warrant for her arrest in Somerset County. Munga was being held at the Somerset County Corrections Center pending court action. 

Feb. 26

  • Daniel Cerullo, 23, of Allison Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident.

Police said they witnessed a 2004 Chevrolet erratically traveling southbound at 4:33 a.m. on Route 130. Cerullo continued onto Dutch Neck Road, then onto Westfield Road and continued onto Geraldine Road, where he was stopped. Police said he had watery eyes and slurred speech. He was arrested after field sobriety tests. Police said it was later learned that he had hit several mailboxes and a parked car before being stopped by the police. 

Feb. 26

  • Jorge Zapata, 52, of Copland Court, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, failure to exhibit a drivers license, careless driving and reckless driving.

Police said they saw a Lexus driving in an erratic manner on Route 571 at 11:06 p.m. When stopped, Zapata was sweating profusely and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He was arrested after field sobriety tests. 

 

Feb. 21

  • John Xenos, 24, of Morrison Ave., was charged with causing a false public alarm.

Police said that Xenos had turned himself into the Hightstown Borough Police Department after a warrant for his arrest was issued for calling police claiming a false fire was going on.  Xenos was released on his own recognizance and is pending court action.

Feb. 23

  • Catherine Dewitt, 28, of Westerlea Ave., was charged with contempt of court. 

Police said that Dewitt was arrested at 7:52 and was found to have two active warrants for her arrest. The first warrant was issued by the East Windsor Township Municipal Court for $350, and the second was issued by Trenton City Municipal Court for the amount of $124. Dewitt was turned over to East Windsor Township Police Department in lieu of bail.

Feb. 25

  • Hitendra Jain, 36, of Princeton, was charged with being in contempt of court. 

Police said that at 8:05 p.m., officers arrested Jain on Franklin Street. A random license plate inquiry alerted officers that Jain had two active warrants for his arrests. Jain was arrested subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on a warrant issued by the West Windsor Township Municipal Court in the amount of $156 and an active warrant issued by East Brunswick Township Municipal Court in the amount of $120. Jain was released upon posting bail. 

 Feb. 26

  • Alberto Orellana, 54, of East Windsor, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated within a school zone and reckless driving. 

Police said they noticed a vehicle parked at 12:17 a.m. at a closed building with the engine running. Upon investigating, the officers noticed the driver was asleep in the vehicle. Orellana was then taken to police headquarters. While there, it was revealed that his blood-alcohol level was .2 percent. He was released after he sobered up. 

  • Andrew Becchina, 21, of Pierce Road, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
  • Garrett Green, 20, of South Main Street, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
  • Anthony Sudnick, Jr., 20, of Windsor-Perrineville Road, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park. 

Police said that at 9:33 p.m. they saw a drug deal on Morrison Avenue and stopped Sudnick, Green and Becchina. All three men were arrested and released pending court action. 

Feb. 28

  • Police are investigating a report on an unknown person who threw a rock into the siding of a residence on the 200 block of Franklin Street at approximately 11 p.m. The rock caused a hole in the siding. The amount of damage was not known at the time of the report. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hightstown Borough Police Department. 

 Mar. 1

  • Walter Daniels Jr., 67, of East Windsor, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated within a school zone, refusal to submit to breath samples, reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to maintain lanes. 

Police said that at 7:46 p.m., a concerned citizen alerted them to a driver who may  be intoxicated on Davidson Road. Police witnessed Daniels weaving back and forth and going into the oncoming lane of traffic before stopping. Police said that they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Daniels. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
