Police: Driver Found With Drugs After Car Stopped for Speeding

Ashley N. Anderson, 22, of Trenton was charged with multiple drug offenses after her car was initially stopped for traveling 30 miles over the posted speed limit on Mercer Street, according to Hightstown Police.

The following information was released by Hightstown Borough police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Ashley N. Anderson, 22, of Trenton, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. March 7 on Mercer Street and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lane, speeding, and careless driving.

Police said Anderson was stopped for traveling 55 mph in a 25 mph speed zone and for crossing the road’s center double-yellow line on multiple occasions.

During the traffic stop, an officer smelled an odor of burnt marijuana and observed “small pieces of suspected marijuana throughout the vehicle,” police said.

Upon further investigation a small plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana was recovered from the vehicle, according to police. After being processed on the charges, Anderson was released with court action pending.

Contempt of Court

Ronald Perry, 55, of Manlove Avenue, Hightstown, was charged with contempt of court after he surrendered to officers at the Hightstown police station in connection with a warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $203. Perry was later released after posting bail.
