Police: Fight at VFW Leads to Arrest for Local Man

East Windsor Police say reports of a gun were unconfirmed.

said they responded to the on Dutch Neck Road Saturday night for a report of a large fight and ended up arresting one local man.

Abel Martin, 19, of Princeton Arms Apartments East, faces pending charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Police said they responded to the VFW at 11:16 p.m. and began to disperse the crowd. But according to police, one of the people involved — Martin — refused to leave and "approached the officers in a fighting posture."

When police tried to take Martin into custody, they said he resisted, with the struggle causing minor injuries to both Martin and arresting officers Glen Vega and Lee Platt. Police said all three men were treated and released from the University Medical Center Princeton.

Police said the initial call they received included mention of a gun, and that while they were unable to confirm the report's accuracy, they haven't ruled out there may have been a firearm.
