Report: Two Officers Injured During Shootout in Trenton

The officers were responding to a report of domestic violence prior to the shootout. The suspect was killed.

Two police officers were injured during a shootout in Trenton early Thursday morning, nj.com reports.

The officers were investigating a report of domestic violence at the time of the shooting, according to the report.

The suspect, indentified as 23-year-old Eric McNeill, was reportedly killed during the shootout. McNeill was released from prison in May after serving three years on robbery and weapons charges, according to the report.

The report identifies the officers as Jim Letts, 45, and Edgar Rios, 53, both of Hamilton. One was reportedly shot in the shoulder, and the other was shot in the back.

According to the report, surgery on Letts has been completed, while Rios remained in surgery late this morning.
