Taxi Search Yields 847 Decks of Heroin, Hightstown Police Say

Lashaun Turner faces multiple drug possession charges.

A traffic stop of a taxi in Hightstown led to drug possession charges for one of the passengers.

On Thursday shortly after midnight, officers stopped the taxi for several motor vehicle violations. As police approached the vehicle, they detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside the car, which was occupied by the driver and a male and female fare.

The officers received consent to search the vehicle. During the search, police said they recovered 847 decks of heroin and a small amount crack cocaine near
where the male passenger was seated. 

The male passenger, Lashaun Turner, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of drug possession. He was remanded to Mercer County Adult Correctional Facility and held on $100,000 bail.

The driver of the taxi received tickets for in motor vehicle violations and released, and the female passenger was released with no charges.
