Three Cranbury Officers Recognized for DWI Arrests
Between the three officers, 43 drivers were removed from the streets, according to the police chief.
Two officers and a sergeant at the Cranbury Police Department were awarded the Top Gun award for taking DWI drivers off the road.
Officers Douglas Mayer and Matt Schneider, and Sgt. Todd Galla worked on the same squad in 2011, removing a total of 43 impaired drivers from the Cranbury streets, said Chief Ricky Varga.
Varga said their individual numbers were so close that he decided to recognize the whole squad instead of singling out one officer.

“We may never know how many lives you affected and the suffering that was avoided by apprehending and removing these drivers from our roadways, but be rest assured that by your actions you without question have made a difference in many lives,” Varga wrote in the letter to the officers.
Police chiefs across the state submits names to the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety who reviews the applications and selects the officers who will be recognized, Varga said.
