Three Drivers Charged With DWI by Hightstown Police

The arrests were made between March 14 and March 18. In two of the cases, the drivers were stopped by police. In the third, the driver was found passed out in his parked - but running - vehicle, according to police.

The following report is based on information released by Hightstown Borough police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Driving While Intoxicated

John Raum Jr., 36, of Mill Run Court, Hightstown, was arrested about 10:50 p.m. March 14 and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to maintain a lane.

While on patrol, officers allegedly observed Raum driving in an “erratic manner” on North Main Street.

After Raum’s vehicle was stopped, he was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police. After being taken into custody, he submitted breath samples that resulted in a blood alcohol reading of 0.16 percent, police said, noting that he was later released, with court action pending.

Driving While Intoxicated

Jhon Angamarca-Fuela, 22, of Gardenview Terrace, East Windsor, was arrested on Wyckoff Mills Road about 1 a.m. March 16 and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, and refusal to submit breath samples.

“While on patrol officers observed a vehicle parked while running, the vehicle’s headlights on, and the driver [Angamarca-Fuela] passed out in the driver’s seat,” police said in a news release. “Officers were able to awaken the driver who performed and failed sobriety tests. The subject was taken into custody and refused to provide breath samples. The subject was later released to his mother with pending court action.”

Driving While Intoxicated

Hunter Goodson, 20, of Roosevelt was arrested about 1:10 a.m. March 18 on Etra Road and charged with possession of a simulated government document, underage consumption/possession of alcohol, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

After police stopped the vehicle Goodson was driving for “motor vehicle infractions,” Goodson was given field sobriety tests. He failed those tests and was taken into custody, police said.

Goodson “was found to possess an open bottle of spiced rum in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The subject was also found to be in possession of a fraudulent Alabama driver’s license purporting his age to be 21,” police said in a news release that also noted that Goodson provided breath samples that resulted in a blood alcohol reading of 0.18 percent.

Goodson was later released to his parents, with court action pending.
