Truck Strikes Train Bridge in South Brunswick

Trains on northeast corridor were briefly delayed after tractor-trailer sustained heavy damage attempting to cross under bridge on Deans Lane in South Brunswick.

A South Brunswick road was closed after a tractor-trailer carrying water struck a train bridge over the roadway.

The accident on Deans Lane briefly delayed trains traveling on the northeast corridor, as there were concerns about the structural integrity of the bridge. Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said engineers finished examining the damage at about 1:30 p.m. and reported no problems.

Both Amtrak and New Jersey Transit said the accident is not expected to impact rail service through the rest of Friday.
