Borough Hall Decision Postponed

There are more delays regarding where to place Hightstown's municipal departments.

The Hightstown Borough Council has postponed making a decision on what to do about Borough Hall, according to centraljersey.com.

According to centraljersey.com, Hightstown had received one bid to provide a temporary modular facility to be used as a new Borough Hall. However, rather than accept or reject the bid, the council tabled a decision.

The council has been considering leasing land owned by the Rug Mill, but a lease for the property has not been worked out yet, said Centraljersey.com.

The bid came in from MobileaseModular Space Inc, the centraljersey.com article said, bidding in at $159,200 for an administrative temporary facility; and $275,100 for a module police unit. Mobilease is based in West Deptford.

Hightstown Borough Hall and the police department were damaged in 2011 during Hurricane Irene, when .

Since the hurricane, Borough Hall has been operating out of the Public Works Department and the police station was temporarily moved to the Lucas Electric building on Mercer Street.

There will be no decision on the idiocy of putting modular building on the site owned by the rug mill. In fact there will be no decision on anything as long as we have a three to three split as to the future of Borough Hall. The purchase of the Lucas property and updating the building for police and municipal services is an obvious choice but we have three council members willing to spend our tax money to maintain Borough Hall in a flood plain and limit the potential development of the Mill property. These three, Woods. Doran, and Thibault have no vision, no knowledge, and no experience in anything remotely dealing with insurance, reconstruction, or development. They will ultimately cost the Borough millions of dollars in trying to save who knows what. We have the opportunity to acquire a nine acre site adjacent to the High School with room for parking , Mercer Street access to the High School, and a central location for merged community services as well a building with updated office space. These three will be forced known as the mindless.

It continues to be an embarrassment to live in this town, with this council

And thankfully, we have the great leadership of the mayor and adminstrator to boot. Just kidding. We should have known better than to elect someone who has never done anything positive or served the Borough in any capacity, who protects a freeloading Administrator on the taxpayers dime.
