East Windsor and Cranbury Schools to See No Change in State Aid

Gov. Chris Christie’s proposed state aid package for New Jersey public schools in 2014 is $8.7 billion and both the East Windsor Regional School District and the Cranbury School District will be obtaining approximately the same amount of funding they received the year before, according to an NJ Spotlight report.

East Windsor will be receiving $1 more in state aid for 2014, a zero percent change in financial assistance from the 2012-2013 school year, for a total of $18,398,955. This is a 7.3 percent increase in state funding for the district from 2011-2012, according to the numbers released by the NJ Department of Education yesterday.

The Cranbury School District will also see a zero percent change in state aid from the 2012-2013 school year to the 2013-2014 school year. The district will receive $451,203 of New Jersey’s proposed state school aid of $8.7 billion, also an increase of $1 more from the previous school year. However, this is a notable boost from two years ago as this proposed aid is 28 percent higher than what the district collected from the state in 2011-2012.  

The proposed $8.7 billion will be dispersed among the state’s 378 school districts, only 300 of which received significant increases in aid, according to the report.
