Volunteers could play a variety of roles, such as planning and implementing activities for litter clean-up on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, preparing intervention and educational programs promoting drug and alcohol prevention with the township Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, or reviewing applications for residential and commercial development on the Planning Board, to name a few.

The Mayor and Council make appointments during the January reorganization meeting, as well as throughout the year as vacancies occur.

“Our government operates best when volunteers offer input and advice on our operations and projects,” Mironov said. “Public participation provides mutual benefits for residents and elected officials, and hopefully stimulates citizens to have a greater interest in and understanding of the role of local government.”

Residents interested in volunteering can obtain an application form from the municipal clerk, from the Township website, or can send a letter of interest and a resume or information about their background to: Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Township Council, East Windsor Township Municipal Building, 16 Lanning Boulevard, East Windsor, New Jersey 08520, or fax to 443-8303.  For an application form or further information, call 443-4000 ext. 240.
