East Windsor Township Council Candidate Profile: John Zoller

Patch posed a series of questions to each candidate.

Name: John Zoller
Party:
Democrat
Running for:
Four year term

Why are you running for Township Council?
Having experience within the Township Planning Board processes, I would like to extend myself into municipal government.  I find the current Council works well together as a team and I look forward, if elected, to learning the fast track to effectiveness from our continuing members.

What are three issues most important to you and why?
Actually, I’m interested in four areas. The first two are maintaining the Township’s low municipal-purpose tax rate, and the protection of our open space. These programs are already a success due to the effectiveness and priorities of the Council, and I will work with the Council to find financial resources and cost savings to control the rate, and opportunities to set-aside land as it becomes available. I want these results to continue, and will give them my full support.

Equally important are job creation within the Township business community and raising awareness of the needs of our senior citizens.  Working for a local employer, I understand and appreciate the benefit of bringing in new businesses and growing those that are already established. The Township’s business offices and ombudsman service are in place to help these employers.  Opportunities to increase our business base will get my full attention and support. I look forward to working with the Council and Township Economic Development Committee to bring in new jobs and reduce unemployment. Lastly, many senior citizens are living on a fixed income, some of which is not adjusting for the costs of living.  And, property tax stabilization for seniors is important to those who want to stay in their township homes. These points will be kept in the forefront if I am elected.

Why should residents vote for you?
I ask for the vote of our residents because I will bring to the Council my six years of service on the East Windsor Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment, 40 years of business management experience, and 25+ years as a Township resident. This will allow me to work closely within our Council to continue to build our community.
