Hightstown Council President Steps Down

Democrat Isabel McGinty made the surprise announcement Monday night.

Hightstown Borough Councilwoman and Democrat Isabel McGinty stepped down Monday night from her position as council president.

McGinty told the council she never sought the position of president, to which she was by the council, and that she wanted to feel able to ask questions freely. She remains on the council as a member.

Mayor and fellow Democrat Steve Kirson told Patch he had been unaware of McGinty’s plans until she made the announcement. The council will select a new president at its next meeting.
