East Windsor School District Faces Lawsuit

A West Windsor girl's parents have reportedly filed suit over a May 2010 softball game.

The parents of a West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional High School North student are suing the for negligence after their daughter broke her leg at a softball game the district hosted in May 2010, the Trenton Times reports.

The Times identified the girl as Kerry Shanaberger, 15, of West Windsor, who is now a freshman at WW-P North. The Shanaberger's attorney, James O'Donohue, told the Times Kerry was hurt when Kerry slid into third base during a game at because the base was staked to the ground instead of set to give way when struck, as it should have been. He also told the Times the district is working on a settlement with his client, whose medical expenses for the injury came out to $3,600.

Patch wasn't able to reach O'Donahue for comment Friday. Superintendent Ed Forsthoffer declined to comment on the matter, including what type of base was at the game and whether or not the district is interested in settling.
