Bosnia on My Mind

Jasha M. Levi, a Hightstown resident, will ve making a Power Point presentation of his book Requiem for a Country - A History Lesson.

This is Levi's second book in the English language. He wrote the first, The Last Exile - The Tapestry of a Life, at age 88. Now 90, the author is actively lecturing on the controversial subject of survival of foreign Jews in WWII Italy, organizing independent authors to make self-published books validated in order to open bookstores and libraries to them, and pursuing in his blog KRPARA a number of other topics of contemporary interest. (http://krpara.blogspot.com/)

Both books are available in print and in digital form, and can be ordered through Amazon, B&N and directly (autographed) from the author.

One of Levi's  current project is translating and publishing his English-language books back into his native Serbo-croatian.

The underlying theme of his Princeton talk are the two genocides in Bosnia, during WWII and again in the local war in the 1990s. In the first, the Jewish Sephardic population was totally uprooted and more than decimated; in the second genocide, the miniscule remnant of it served as a mediator between warring factions in which the genocide affected the majority Serbian Ortodox, Croat Catholics and Muslim Slavs.
