Hightstown Resident to Present His Memoir

Publishing his memoir, The Last Exile, Tapestry of a Life,  two years ago at the age of 87 was a milestone for Jasha Levi; revising it for Kindle release was another.

Always breaking new ground, this dynamic Renaissance Man has created an audio visual presentation called "The History Lesson" to further illustrate his amazing life, surviving on the periphery of the Holocaust.
 
Mr. Levi, a Hightstown resident,  will debut the new program on Friday afternoon, May 13 at 1 p.m. in the courtroom at the Plainsboro Municipal Center.  For one afternoon, the hall of justice will become a theater/classroom as Mr. Levi presents the story of his survival through World War 2, always one step ahead of the Nazis as he escaped from his native Yugoslavia, fought with the underground, found refuge in Italy where he lived under false identies and ran a school for young children, paid for food by concocting an alcoholic beverage made with brandy and wine, and then after the war as a journalist covered the Paris Peace Talks, The Korean Peace Conference, the UN Security Council and many other world-changing events.  He finally sought asylum in the United States after disillusionment with the Tito regime after the war and realizing that democracy for Yugoslavia was a naive fantasy.
