Hightstown HS Students and Staff Recognized for Creating New Orientation Video

Two high school students starred in a new orientation students for incoming freshmen.

Every year in January, students and their families are invited to eighth grade curriculum night, an evening showcasing the curricular and extracurricular offerings of Hightstown High School.

The event was created years ago as a way to ease incoming ninth graders’ anxiety and generate interest about coming to high school. One piece of the show has always been dedicated to a video, highlighting the curricular offerings.

After playing the same narrated video for several years, the administration at the high school decided to update the production. The suggestion was made to use the talents and skills of Briana Kupper and Matt White, both eleventh grade students.

Briana and Matt brought a new video, produced and directed by Mr. Koontz and scripted by Mr. Akey, to life by directing their messages to the incoming freshmen.

Koontz was joined in this effort by his ace cameraman, Matt Encalada. Both Briana and Matt’s on-screen talents and warm personalities helped to generate excitement, reduce anxiety, and help students understand all the opportunities Hightstown High School has to offer.
