When and how did your business get started?

In 2010 I was looking for a way to lose weight that was different and fun. While surfing the web, I came across a group of women in California who called themselves Hoopnotica. They featured dance and exercise moves that were done with custom made hula hoops designed for serious hoopers. Robin Hagadorn, my neighbor, and I both became certified Hoopnotica instructors and learned how to make the attractive and durable hoops. Since then we have conducted instructional classes in hoop dance and hoop fit and have made many custom hoops for clients.

Why did you choose the town you chose to start your business in?

The choice of Hightstown was easy. Both Robin and I live in Hightstown. I have lived in Hightstown all my life.

What is your business best known for?

Glitterhoops is best known for our colorful custom made hoops and for our participation on Fridays during the summer at the Hightstown Farmre's Market next to Peddie Lake.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

The use of hoops in dance routoines was a part of the recent Summer Olympics and various professional hoop dancers appear in shows like Circque De Sole. Michelle Obama has advocated hoop fitness as a fun way to get in shape.
