Hightstown Native Among Mercer County Players Competing for Spots With NFL Teams

Nick Williams is competing for a job with the Washington Redskins.

A Lawrence High School product, a Princeton University alum and a Hun School graduate are among five players with Mercer County connections still competing for spots on NFL teams, nj.com reports.

Professional football teams announced their first cuts by 4 p.m. Tuesday. According to the report, tight end Brett Brackett, of Lawrence is pursuing a spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars; wide receiver Nick Williams, of the Hun School by way of Hightstown, is battling for a spot with the Washington Redskins; and Princeton University graduate and defensive end Mike Catapano is competing to make the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster.

Two other Mercer County alums are competing for spots, including Notre Dame High School’s Tiquan Underwood, looking for a spot as a wide receiver with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; and linebacker Jayson DiManche, of Hamilton High School, is fighting for a spot with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to the report.
