Rutgers University senior Quron Pratt of Palmyra was named American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Eastern Michigan on Saturday, the conference announced this week.

His return put the Scarlet Knights ahead 14-3 en route to its 28-10 win over the Eagles. Pratt also has a blocked punt this season, against Norfolk State in their 38-0 win on Sept. 7.

Rutgers leads the conference in yards per kickoff return with 43.7, according to the conference’s website.

Sophomore Paul James, of Glassboro, and redshirt freshman Steve Longa, of Saddle Brook, were each named to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll.

James has 493 yards rushing this season, 192 of which came against Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

He also has six touchdowns, half of which came at the Eagles’ expense. James appears on the Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week.

Longa had a game-high 12 tackles, including two sacks. He leads the team with 29 tackles this season. He’s fifth in the conference.

He appears on the Weekly Honor Roll for the first time.

Rutgers returns to action Saturday at HighPoint Solutions Stadium against undefeated Arkansas, 3:30 p.m. on ESPN. The Scarlet Knights defeated the Razorbacks, 35-26, last year.
