Thunder Make Home Debut Thursday

Yankees farm team returns for another exciting season

Through the first week of the season the Trenton Thunder have shown their bats can explode on their Eastern League rivals. Starting tomorrow the team will be back at Arm & Hammer Park for their first home action of the new year

So far this year the Thunder have played three games against the Portland Sea Dogs and three games against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on the road. The local team started the season with a 13-5 win over the Sea Dogs last Thursday and also picked up wins on Sunday and Tuesday. 

The action returns to Mercer County tomorrow night with a game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The first 3000 fans 6 and over who come out to the 7:05 game will also get an Arm & Hammer Park Logo baseball. It is also the first Thirsty Thursday of the season with beer specials at the park until the middle of the 5th inning.

Friday night the first 2000 fans to see the Thunder take on the Flying Squirrels will get magnetic schedules and it will also be a music awards night. Saturday's 5:05 game will be geared to the younger Thunder fans as the first 1000 fans between the ages of 5 and 15 will get Andy Pettitte replica jerseys. 

There is also a special event scheduled for after the game on Saturday as the ballpark will be transformed into a movie theater for a screening of the popular baseball movie The Sandlot. Along with a showing of the movie, David Mickey Evans who wrote, directed and narrated the movie will be at the park along with Tom Guiry who played "Smalls" in the film. The special guests are scheduled to throw out the first pitches and will sign autographs through the third inning. Fans who use the promo code SANDLOT to purchase your tickets will have a portion of their purchase donated to the "Sandlot Baseball Field Program."

The final game of the four game set is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05 and will be a Fred Beans Auto Group Customer Appreciation Day. 

When the Squirrels fly out of town the Akron Aeros will step up to the plate for a three game set. Monday's game will be a 7:05 start on the first All-You-Can-Eat Night. As part of the promotion all fans can enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers throughout the game. The first 2000 fans over the age of 6 will also get magnetic schedules. 

The free food continues on Tuesday when all children 12 and under will get a voucher for a free hot dog, popcorn and soda. For all other fans it will be a $1 hot dog night as well as a Most Improved Student night presented by the NJEA. 

Wednesday night's game will have a special 10:35 a.m. start as part of Educational Day. Bottom Dollar Food customers can also bring their receipts to the stadium and pay just $8 for tickets while supplies last. 

After Wednesday's game the team will hit the road for a four game series at Erie before three more games at Akron. They will return home to Arm & Hammer on April 26 to start a three game series with Portland.
