Volunteers Help Protect More Than 2000 Recently Planted Trees

The trees were recently planted as part of the Turnpike expansion project.

Volunteers from Cranbury Township and the Liquid Church in New Brunswick spent April 14 wrapping more than 2000 young trees on Old Cranbury Road to protect them from critters and diseases, according to organizers.

The trees were planted as part of the Turnpike expansion, and more than 50 volunteers helped wrap protective plastic around the trunks, organizers said. The Liquid Church was volunteering as part of an Earth Day project.

Cranbury Township provided gloves, bagels and water for volunteers.
