You can depend on Christie (like most other politicians) to take the cheap way out. You don'tRead More prevent accidents by passing another law to raise the penalties. You prevent accidents by better training, better licensing tests and more patrols. But training, testing and patrolling cost money, year after year after year. Passing a law costs practically nothing and has almost the same effect on votes, but it doesn't have the same effect on safety.

Not so Brilliant The past few years New Jersey has conducted Safety boating courses and requiredRead More Every Boat Operator To pass a Coast Guard approved Course, By Licensed instructors. And Set Age limits, And Passing many new laws for Boating many parallel Regular Motor Vehicle Laws , And the penalties are attached to ones Car Drivers Licence, and against ones insurance, In so doing it Created a Bunch of people going around calling each other Captain. which never did improve Safety, As a matter of fact it made things worst, Hence The Governor saw fit to sponsor More laws. but Laws are only good when obeyed, The coast Guard and State Police can only do so much, They can Not fix stupid. Remember Captain spelled backwards is Niatpac !!!

Guess Who did Christy do all That ??? OMG I have been and saw the stupid questions Christy get fromRead More the public and Media I would last 2 Min. before i would blow up, Unlike obamanation who has a Pen and makes laws on his own. Against The Constitution of The United States. Christy has not but has vetoed many stupid Ideas presented to his office only to make him look like he is the bad guy when he does so. Speaking of ILLEGALS is it Now Christy,s fault That 1000s are pouring across the USA Boarders right now and disappearing into who knows where. with obmanation asking for BILLIONS to help them settle. It is Total Bull Shit that it is The Humanitarian thing to do. IF SO How About Haiti, Jamaica.China, Korea, Cuba, The many nations of Africa. The list is endless. that fall under the same thing. How about the many Millions right here in The United States of America. That are living under worse conditions then these so called Refuges from oppression. AKA ( ILLEGALS ) They Get Free Medical Care including Health Screenings- Dental- Eye- Care, Prescriptions -That Even The War Veterans of The United States are being refused By the VA. Now add Food stamps -Welfare - Job Assistance - Housing- Transportation - Legal Protection under our Constitution against Discrimination - And YOU are CONCERNED about them getting DRIVERS Licences Which can be added to the list along with insurances. Or they will drive with out them and not be held responsible, You had better stand back and look at the big picture. Think how Stupid The Average Person is, And the realize Half of Them are STUPIDER then that. Where do you FIT. Credits to GEO. Carlin for that bit.

The real main intention of this law was to protect somebody who is rendering assistance, regardless.Read More If you were to come to an accident and you moved the person out of the car because it was going to burn, but in the intention you caused paralysis due to an injury your had no idea about, you would be granted immunity. You were acting in the best interest of the victim, trying to save their life. If this act was not in effect, nobody would render assistance if they thought about the consequences. Good people with basic human nature would still help. It takes the ambulance chasers to ruin something else like this.

She also stated that the cops wouldn't come out just for a stolen cellphone, how do those people know? As for the mom who got a beat down in front of her child, and I was there, I would have been the first to call 911. True story, I went to University Plaza in Newark to pay my cable bill at the Optimum Payment Center, and I grabbed something to eat, anyway, as I was eating in my car, I saw a store owner get hit by some guy, and I put down my food, and picked up my cellphone as I was about to dial 911, I heard the owner say not to, but I had to, even though he was a complete stranger to me, I knew enough to know that if I did nothing, it would've be just as bad as the criminal doing the hitting. I am the type of person who will stand up for anyone if I see what's going on.

People are leaving NJ as fast as they can???? And people are moving into NJ, entrepreneurs,Read More enterprising immigrants (LEGAL) and NJ has a fairly healthy birth rate. But the right wingers and the corporate whores who want us to further lower taxes on big corporations and the wealthy perpetuate the myth that NJ is losing population which is a big fat LIE. In the 1950s, the top marginal tax rate was 91%, now it's 39.6%.
Ridgewood Mom June 19, 2014 at 05:29 pm
Exactly Joe. All that Chris Christie has done as governor is raid the public coffers in order toRead More line the pockets of himself and his cronies. He has achieved this by employing well documented goon squad tactics and perpetuating the lie that the cost of services for the average taxpayer is the source of the state's fiscal challenges, demanding that most people in the state pay more taxes for less services in order to funnel more money to favored corporations and very wealthy individuals.
Rick Ricky June 18, 2014 at 06:59 pm
charlotte, You are living in a bubble. Dream, Dream, Dream darling. Obviously you really do not knowRead More what is going on. It is not the money they do it to for an exchange of favors program to put who they want a head. It helps them in the future for their own. Teachers are shroud in everything they do. There is always a motive or plant a seed going on in a bad way. It is not based on who truly is the best. You have administrator, teachers and coaches fudging every thing they can to make themselves look good. They collaborate together like the good old boys club. Trust me on this most don't care about your kids or anyone's kids unless you fall under that category of knowing someone. It is based on Who you know, not what you know just like all the other corruption going on in the world. Teachers have two faces. I think it is something they learn in college very well.

To I've got the "scoop"" Ellie has a few different diseases. First called HereditaryRead More multifocal retinal dysplasia and retinal folding treated with eye drops. The second is keratoconjunctivitis sicca (chronic dry eye) which needs to be treated with Optimmune which can lead to corneal ulcers, chronic pus comes out of her eye and could lead to blindness if not treated. At first "their" vet stated Ellie just had regular conjunctivitis (infectious) probably caused by being with so many puppies, but not until I took her to a specialist was it determined this was a predisposed condition. Granted cocker spaniels DO have some eye problems but not the extent of Ellie's problems. The next issue she has is distichiasis (ingrown eyelashes) which also increases the pus, irritation, redness so she has to be groomed around her face more often. Her other problem was a "cherry eye". At 5 months old a "piece of meat" started coming out of her left eye. It was diagnosed as a cherry eye. The pet store would ONLY pay for the surgery if I used "their vet". She had the surgery and it did not work so needless to say the "piece of meat" is still hanging out. Again, granted cocker spaniels are "prone" to eye problems BUT IT WAS DETERMINED IN ALL OF HER DISEASES BOTH MOTHER AND FATHER HAVE HAD TO HAVE THESE DISEASES AND WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY APPARENT IN THE ADULTS AND THEY WERE STILL BREEDING THEM. Right now she is stable and is used to getting the medicine in her eyes daily. I love her so much. Again, as stated the pet store DID NOT CARE WHATSOEVER!!!! They made their sale!

This is a problem for NJ government and the taxpayers as the wealth is leaving the state. 50Read More billion in the last few years. Just wait till the majority of the boomers leave, taking the rest of the wealth. Then see how the taxes have to be raised to pay for the blob, the bloated governments (county such as Union, Essex, Hudson) and the state of NJ. The smart kids are leaving NJ when they go out of state to college, so the parents have no reason to stay. Housing prices will go down because no one will be able to afford them, and the property taxes, except the New Yorkers who flee their even worse state.
Joe R June 19, 2014 at 09:50 am
Oh baloney, wealth is not leaving NJ, at least not in the sense that you think. NJ has one of theRead More highest percentage of millionaires and billionaires in the country. NJ is one of the richest states in the country. Rich people are not fleeing their wealthy enclaves (even with the high property taxes) such as Princeton or where the governor lives, quite the opposite. According to the last census and almost all of the previous censuses, NJ gained in population. It's still the most densely populated state in the country. The problem is that the big corporations are given all kinds of tax breaks, tax holidays, tax abatements, land giveaways, subsidies and sweetheart deals that either services have to be cut or taxes have to be raised on the rest of us who do not have the clout of Walmart or some billionaire sports team owner.
Charlie Kime June 23, 2014 at 04:40 am
That's an interesting comment Joe R. Five of our neighbors within a two block radius have left theRead More state in the past year. They left for work, retirement, downsizing, etc. This will repeat itself more and more as baby boomers retire. Those remaining are left with the second highest state and local taxes in the country, the worst finances of any state, and an $84bn unfunded liability on risk-free public pensions & unlimited healthcare costs that NJ tax payers have to cover. There has been very little new job creation in NJ mainly because businesses find the state so unfriendly. Only someone benefitting for a sweetheart deal in NJ, i.e. a public pensioner, could complain that it is sweatheart deals for big corporations that drive up our taxes. That's patently false.

State workers pensions were NEVER something any union negotiated for or ask for or demanded. TheRead More Pensions are something the state OFFERED to attract the workers they needed. The State of NJ said " Come and work for us and this is what we will give you as Compensation for working for the state of NJ. Their pensions are a Part of their salary (their workers Compensation/wages) and something the state OFFERED to pay their employees. The workers cannot take back their 20, 30, 40 years of loyal service and the state is trying to take back compensation that the state had agreed to pay their workers when they were hired. When any employer offers to pay a any worker a pension to get the worker to work for them __ the pension just like a paycheck is part of the Compensation they have worked for.

Doesn't NY get a say in who should be appointed and in what reforms are needed? And what happenedRead More to the idea of appointing a neutral party? To me that means someone from Connecticut or Pennsylvania. Got lost in the Christie PR barrage? Does he believe he controls everything????

Wow. The corrupt governor gets to nominate another appointee to replace the other corrupt one thatRead More he appointed. Disgraceful!

Keep giving tax breaks to the super rich on the backs of what's left of the working class and thisRead More is what happens. And the Trenton Tyrant just stands there with his well rehearsed look of innocence and wonders why nobody trusts him.

NJ is in WORSE financial shape now than it was 4 years ago when Christie was first elected. Now asRead More he destroys NJ further he would like to move onto the White House and also put our nation into worse shape. His only record is of FAILURES.

Dear Jane doe, I can also tell you how people get duped by paid search companies. By fraud, ofRead More people pretending to be their biological siblings, or adoptee, or relative. Yes, its ok if there is a consent form or non consent form for contact. You are correct not everyone wants to be reunited. Some adoptees don't care to be contacted either. How much is the intermediary going to cost. Did they establish a mutual consent registry for both parties to sign up on for NJ. Right now NJ doesn't have one.

A few years back, I watched a documentary that followed a young adult attempting to contact herRead More birth mother. She sat sobbing on her mother's doorstep, the door locked, the curtains drawn. Her birth mother did NOT want to meet her...had made another life. Opening the records will result in a lot more of these scenes. I understand the need to know who you came from...but I know of several people who did not understand that adoption is a painful choice for the birth mother...and some are not happy tales at all. There is a tendency to romanticize the whole process. Most people are not ready to find out why they were given to adoption. And there is nothing in place to help the people who are left with harsh truths, instead of willing birth parents.
