Peddie beat the Hun School yesterday wining the NJISAA Prep A Championship.
Junior Olivia Bundschuh delivered a two-out, two-run double in the sixth inning and freshman pitcher Carly Hattman came through in the clutch, leading the Falcons to a 5-3 victory over The Hun School yesterday to capture the NJISAA Prep A championship. Peddie previously defeated the Raiders, 3-2 and 11-10, so no one expected this one to be anything less than a tense tussle. “I saw the catcher setting up inside, so I knew it was probably going to be there,” said Bundschuh, who hit the first pitch for the game-winning RBIs. “I just turned on it and hoped for the best." First year coach Kristen DeLaRosa is laying the groundwork for a strong team in the future.
Rams Varsity Softball Coach Kristen DeLaRosa likes what she sees on the diamond, a good sign for a first-year coach looking to put her stamp on a team. "I've seen them come togther and play some really big games, and the teams we have left are good match ups for us. The rest of the games will be exciting for us to be a part of and to play in," said DeLaRosa. Both teams collectively raised over $22,000.
Both Peddie Aquatics and Peddie Golf team spent the past weekend raising funds and awareness for Cancer research. In two separate events on the same day, the teams raised a collective $22,049. The Peddie swim team and Peddie Aquatics teamed up in a “Peddie Swimmers Go Gold” event, swimming laps to benefit pediatric cancer research, while the Peddie Golf team hosted “Swing against Cancer,” a golf tournament benefitting the American Cancer Society. “Peddie swimmers are among the best in the country, and they also have great heart and compassion,” head coach Greg Wriede said.
