East Windsor Taxes Rise 2.6 Percent More Than State Average

Cost of rebuilding after Sandy could affect rates, according to Star-Ledger analysis

East Windsor's property tax bills hovered around the state average in 2012, but the rate of increase from 2011 to 2012 was higher than the average throughout New Jersey. From 2011 to 2012, East Windsor taxes increased 4.3 percent; taxes throughout the state increased an average of 1.7 percent between 2011 and 2012. The township's 4.3 percent tax hike was 67th out of 566 municipalities and the total tax bill is 244 out of 566 municipalities, according to a Star-Ledger analysis. Property tax bills actually decreased in 117 municipalities, and remained flat in 4 others. New Jersey residents paid an average of $7,870.28 in property taxes for 2012, an increase of $132.46. Higher property taxes and yet our streets, homes, and sidewalks are deteriorating and dilapidated. I hope EW officials are able to budget accordingly this year- another 4.3% hike will be unacceptable for 2013.   more ›
